Zirconia / E-max
The advances in optical impressions, as well as the optical camera, have allowed for many years an evolution within the A.ES Laboratory. It has opened the door to the use of new materials such as Zirconia or even E-Max ceramic.
Zirconiums
Neo Prime Zirconia
For certain cases requiring increased strength, such as large bridges, we have developed a range of zirconia that combines incredible strength with advanced aesthetics.
This new generation zirconia allows us to handle the most complex cases with confidence. Its high mechanical strength makes it an ideal candidate to replace metal-ceramic in long-span bridges. Moreover, its translucency varies according to the height, which allows us to achieve very natural results.
The Zirconia Smile
It’s a zirconia with high translucency. It can be used for simple crowns, but also for medium-sized bridges (one pontic). It can be cemented or bonded, and can be used to prepare less finished teeth.
Smile zirconia also allows us to offer a different estimate for a demanding clientele.
The Full Zirconia Crown
The Full Zirconia Crown is a great alternative to the cast crown. It has more or less the same characteristics as the Zirconia Smile.
The Full Zirconia crown is bioinert, has a positive effect on soft tissue, and is easy to work with in the dental office (bonded or cemented). However, its strength and durability are greater than Smile Zirconia. It can be used as a bridge or single crown on posterior teeth.
The E-Max Ceramic
The E-Max Ceramic is a lithium glass-ceramic used for the manufacture of dental prostheses. Dentures can be made entirely of ceramic, unlike the old crowns (a mixture of metal and ceramic).
E-Max Ceramic has many advantages. It can be presented as a single piece or laminated. Its integration is immediate thanks to its easy match with surrounding colors.
However, it is important and essential to choose the right adhesive, especially regarding the shade and transparency, in order to optimize its integration. A bonding under-dam is then recommended.
« One practitioner shared this experience about when he placed an E-Max ceramic crown for the first time: after positioning it in the mouth of the patient, he turned around for a few seconds to grab a tool. When he looked back at the prosthetic rehabilitation area, he didn’t know which tooth he was crowning. It blends in so perfectly! »
Ceramic on Zirconia
Zirconia is a synthetic mineral obtained from zircon sand. It is a bioinert material that limits the risk of allergies (no case of allergic reaction has been recognized). And above all, it is a material to which soft tissues react perfectly and quickly when in contact.
Zirconia is also used as a substructure material in cosmetic dental coverings. It allows the replacement of the upper visible part of the tooth, around damaged teeth.
It can be used to make simple laminated crowns or bridges with several pontics, either dentally supported or on implants. But also, high density zirconia covered with ceramic allows a realistic aesthetic, as well as a remarkable solidity.

Interesting mechanical and biological properties
The zirconia framework has different degrees of transparency. This makes it possible to hide or benefit from a more or less tinted prosthesis. It is even possible to hide shiny metal under zirconia.
Its versatility also has many advantages for dental practices. It can be cemented as well as bonded, and is an excellent substitute for gold. From an economic point of view, this represents a considerable advantage. It allows for a more accurate estimate, an important step for both the patient and the practitioner.
